The Anthony bracelet is a great piece for a ball or paired with a white tank top and a pair of jeans. I live this piece because the visual story that the gold metal work plays with the jewels.  It is just a lovely time for the eyes.

Heavy on Fashion Talks to Maya Persaud of Lotty Dotty

Hello all my fashion divas and gurus!  I love introducing new designers to all my divas and gurus especially all my little fashion divas and gurus in training. So for all my mini fashion divas and gurus, this interview and post is for you!

Lotty Dotty has developed a new interactive T-shirt concept that allows one to change the look of one’s T-shirt by using 3D detachable parts.100 T-shirts in one, Lotty Dotty T-shirts and handbags feature a screen-printed figure, reminiscent of a paper-doll, on the front of the T-shirt/bag, with a sewn-on Velcro bathing suit on which a variety of mini designer Velcro-backed “outfits” can be attached and detached.  The outfits are designed by talented up-and-coming clothing designers from all over the world. The Lotty Dotty design team is based in Paris, France.

Heavy on Fashion: Tell me a little about yourself. Where are you from? What's your educational background?

Maya Persaud: I was raised in Hawaii and Maryland. I studied French Literature at University of Maryland and the Sorbonne in Paris and have a Masters degree in Social Anthropology of Development from SOAS University of London. I worked in the fashion business as a model for a few years and then worked for a few fashion magazines in ad sales.  I also worked for NGOs and volunteered with several charities.

Heavy on Fashion: What was the first article of clothing you ever designed?

Maya Persaud: A pleated skirt

Heavy on Fashion: How did Lotty Dotty come to be?

Maya Persaud: Lotty Dotty is a collaboration with many young artists involved. Mini outfits are creations from young designers worldwide. The idea comes from Paper dolls.

Heavy on Fashion: Where do you get your inspiration?

Maya Persaud: From popular culture, Paris, travels

Heavy on Fashion:What are some of your proudest accomplishments as a designer?

Maya Persaud: Coming up with the idea of Lotty Dotty and developing the technique to make it possible

Heavy on Fashion:Where do you see Lotty Dotty in 5 years?

Maya Persaud: I am interested in Social enterprise. I would like to develop a sustainable company. My goal is not to make loads of money, but to develop a company that is "socially conscious" I would also like to continue to collaborate with young designers and create new products....I have a few ideas ;-).

Heavy on Fashion: How do you describe Lotty Dotty style, and how is it different or not from yourself?

Maya Persaud: It is very playful. I'm still a kid at heart so love to follow the work of various artists that develop the mini clothing from various themes like "Alice in Wonderland", "Christmas" or "Fairy Princess".

Heavy on Fashion: What makes you unique from other designers?

Maya Persaud: I think every designer is unique as each has his/her perspective which stems from life experiences. However, the interactive apparel design  is unique and is protected under design patent.

Heavy on Fashion: Where can readers find out more about you and your work?

Heavy on Fashion: Finally, what does fashion mean to you?

Maya Persaud: Wearing fashion is about expressing individuality. We choose what we buy and what we wear andwhat we wear says a lot about who we are.Fashion is also a form of art and expression. There are many young designers and established designers whom I admire such as Alexander McQueen who was a true artist. Lotty Dotty is a platform for young designers who do not have the means to produce and show a collection. They have a carte blanche to create designs for our T-shirts and are credited on our website...

Special Thanks to Maya Persaud of Lotty Dotty

Heavy on Fashion Must Have for 2013

Hello all my fashion divas and gurus! Today I am going to talk about some of my fashion and beauty must have for 2013. I had a chance to check out some great beauty products, clothes designers, books, music, and stores throughout 2012. Here is my must have for 2013!

1.) Anastasia Beverly Hills See and Be Seen Kit

I had the chance to use Anastasia Beverly Hills Seen and Be Seen Kit and Lash Genius Waterproof Topcoat and I really liked it. My favorite from the Be seen Kit is the ILLUMIN8 EYESHADOW DUO. This eyeshadow is great with black eyeliner and a crimson lip. The eyeshadow is very versatile and can be worn in any season. The HYDRAFULL GLOSS in Heiress and Plastic are idea for the spring and the summer but can work as a overlay for the right shade of lipstick. When I received the kit, I fell in love the view finder, it brought back some serious childhood memories!

2.) Yves Saint Laurent MascaraVolume Effect Faux Cils

I absolutely love this mascara. Yves Saint Laurent adds volume and definition to my lashes. No fake lashes needed.  I am always for a bargain but I will splurge on something that has great results. Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effect Faux Cils mascara brings results. For $30, Yves Saint Laurent did a great job making my lashes pop.

3.) Tim Gunn's Fashion Bible

I absolutely love this book. It is the encyclopedia of fashion and style. Yeah I said it. If you are a lover of fashion or if you ever wonder about the origin of your favorite pair of shoes, than Tim Gunn is your man. This book full of photos of some of the greatest fashion icons, moments in history, and memorable moments in pop culture. So if you are a lover of books, a lover of fashion, or both than this is the book for you. I am currently working on a book review on Tim Gunn's Fashion Bible which will be on Heavy on fashion very soon!

4.) Dove

I have to honestly say that I love Dove. I been using Dove soap for years and this soap never fails to make my skin love radiant. Like many people out there, I have sensitive skin. I have used many different types of soap and I end up looking grey and my skin is dry. The only beauty bar that I can use is Dove® Sensitive Skin Unscented Beauty Bar. Got to love Dove!

Well my fashion divas and gurus, that is my top 5 must have for 2013! Stay tuned for more of my must have through out the year. Until then.

(Update: I removed the Google Nexus from my favorite list. When the Google Asus Nexus 7 was working, it was great, until it malfunctioned twice  Right now this tablet no longer turns on or powers up. It is basically a brick in my laptop bag. )

The Bags

The Spring/Summer 2012 collection - The Iconic Collection

Charmaine inspiration for her Spring/Summer 2012 collection was the late and Stylish Edie Sedgwick. Edie was the muse of Andy Warhol and fashion icon of the 60's.  Edie lived a glamorous and tragic life. The mixture of boldness and vulnerability can be seen throughout the collection.
