Heavy on Fashion Fashion 101: Vintage Classic: The Delphos Dress

There are many dresses in the world that are wonderful to wear. The sheath is a classic. The sundress is a wonderful classic. The Maxi dress is a must have for this summer. Recently I have a great appreciation of the Delphos Dress. The fabulous ancient Greek inspired dress created in 1909 by Mariano Fortuny.

This dress is beyond fabulous. Look at Clarisse Coudert a.k.a Mrs. Condé Nast wearing this classic Delphos tea dress. Its a bit hard to find a orignal Fortuny Delphos Tea Dress and pricey too. The famous Christie's Auction House sold a rare Fortuny Dress for $8,752

Though the modern interpretation of Fortuny's delphos gown is great nothing beats a vintage Delphos Dress by Mariano Fortuny. You can never go wrong with a classic!  So here is a huge thank you to Mariano Fortuny for the Delphos Dress. One of the many dresses that has changed the world of fashion!
