A Sneak Peek look at SK WiLBUR - Eye Candy!

SK WiLBUR’s main objective is to dress and empower the 67% of American women who are size 14 or higher.  “I love curvy women and I will profess my love until the day I die,” says Wilbur Pack Jr., the designer who comes from a family filled with beautiful, bodacious, and bountiful women.  Although Pack started out designing for “straight sizes” almost 14 years ago, it was his decision to finally jump into the deep end of the plus size pool that has given him the most fulfillment.  Since launching his plus size collection in 2010, Pack has been featured in online publications such as Plus Model Magazine and Belle Noir.  His collections have been favorably reviewed by Women’s Wear Daily and bluefly.com.  He has also been a featured designer in JET magazine and recently appeared on the reality TV series 24 Hour Catwalk hosted by Alexa Chung which aired on Lifetime.

When Pack unveils his latest effort, EYE CANDY, on June 15, 2012 during Full-Figured Fashion Week for the Independent Designers Showcase, it will feature head-to-toe looks that are luxurious, polished, and sophisticated.  Sleek pieces that pop with panache are rendered in mouth watering colors like licorice, grape, pumpkin pie, Twizzler®, lollipop, passion punch, and cherry bomb.  “For fall, I wanted to provide curvy women with everything from soup to nuts,” admits Pack.  To that end, when the company website, www.skwilbur.com,  debuts its new look this September, it will also offer haute hats by Otis Damo’n Millinery along with coats, dresses, tops, skirts, pants, belts, gloves, and handbags designed by SK WiLBUR.  “We’re building a lifestyle brand for the curvy woman,” says the designer.  Prices will range from $85.00 for a top to $700.00 for a custom dress.  “I like to refer to it as accessible luxury,” states Pack.

Lonette McKee, the veteran actress/entertainer, perhaps best known for her work in movies and television miniseries like Sparkle & The Women of Brewster Place, commissioned Pack to create a design for her return to the stage last April at the famed Algonquin Hotel.  He has dressed Patti LaBelle as well.

Full Figured Fashion Week, produced by DeVoe Signature Events, is now in its fourth year, and will take place in New York City from June 13, 2012 to June 16, 2012.  For tickets and press inquiries, please visit www.fffweek.com.

  1. Great post. I love designers who who create clothes for real women (or men). It would be great if a designer will also make fabulous clothes for 'really short' women of different sizes.
