It is time to Get ready to Vote for NJ Governor ~ I am voting for...
In New Jersey, we have an important opportunity to choose our next governor wisely. I am proudly supporting Mikie Sherrill because I believe Jack Ciattarelli has not shown the respect that our Black community deserves.
**Comments on School Segregation:** In a September 2025 debate, Ciattarelli remarked that the challenge of New Jersey's segregated schools lies in the underperformance of predominantly Black schools, rather than the issue of segregation itself. This perspective sparked intense condemnation from Democrats and civil rights advocates, who rightly recognized it as a downplaying of a critical issue.
**Columbus Day Remark:** During a meeting with Black clergy, Ciattarelli referred to Columbus Day as "the first civil rights holiday." This comment was met with rightful criticism, given Columbus's involvement in the transatlantic slave trade, reminding us of the importance of sensitivity in our discussions about history.
**White Christian Nationalism:** Following his Columbus Day comment, a group of Black ministers courageously urged voters to reject Ciattarelli, citing his failure to denounce "white Christian nationalism" and affirm the dignity of Black individuals.
**Systemic Racism:** In a 2021 debate, Ciattarelli stated that he would not teach that white people perpetuate systemic racism, advocating instead for the "golden rule." Opponents assert this reflects a reluctance to confront significant racial issues.
And that not all! If you don't care about how the Republican Candidate feels about black people. You should but let's say you don't. You should care about how he feels about these subjects:
**Labor and Workers' Rights:** The New Jersey State AFL-CIO has strongly criticized Ciattarelli's voting record. They point to his past opposition to raising the minimum wage, supporting equal pay legislation, and implementing "Buy American" rules.
**Immigration:** Ciattarelli has pledged that on his first day as governor, he would repeal the Immigrant Trust Directive, which limits cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration officials. Additionally, he would prohibit municipalities from declaring themselves "sanctuary cities."
**Education:** He has faced backlash for his views on school curriculum, particularly regarding LGBTQ+ inclusion. Ciattarelli has committed to "rolling back the LGBTQ curriculum" and has sparked controversy for using the term "sodomy" in connection with age-appropriate lessons.
**Energy and Environment:** As governor, Ciattarelli has stated that he would withdraw New Jersey from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a multi-state program aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which he describes as a costly "carbon tax."
**Taxes:** While campaigning on a platform of tax relief, Ciattarelli has been criticized by opponents for his past votes in favor of tax increases. Opponents have released audio suggesting he would support raising the sales tax, although Ciattarelli has labeled this claim as misleading. There is a whole article talking about how Ciattarelli wants to raise all taxes, even on food to 10%! In NJ, currently there is no tax on food and clothes. If this happens, it would devastate families in NJ. Check out the article here . He also does not want his rich Billionaire friends to pay their share either. Check that out here .
Let us come together to ensure our voices are heard and advocate for a more equitable future.
