Starting Your Garden Sis!
Hello, all my divas and gurus! π In a previous post, I talked about starting a garden, which is one of my goals on my vision board for 2025. You can check that post out here! I am excited to report that I purchased a little hydroponic garden kit and some gardening tools from the local dollar store, and I am starting my garden. π± I plan to focus on growing sustainable plants in a small space. (Though it has taken me a year to get everything together, my 2026 garden is on the way!)
Now you might be wondering why I’m starting a garden. Here are my reasons:
1. I need to develop a consistent hobby, as I tend to get distracted easily. An indoor garden seems like the perfect way for me to stay focused on something that will positively impact my life. π»
2. With food prices rising, especially for fruits and vegetables, one of my goals is to eat healthier regularly. Gardening will help me achieve this. π₯π
3. Additionally, gardening can provide great sensory play for my son, Noah, who has ADHD, Autism, and sensory-seeking. This indoor garden will be a wonderful way for him to learn and engage in play. π©π¦πΌ
4. In the current economic climate, where food security is uncertain, being self-sufficient is essential for both my well-being and Noah's. Homesteading feels increasingly important in these challenging times. π
5. Gardening not only builds community but can also be therapeutic. It has been shown to reduce stress, improve cognitive skills, promote physical activity, and much more. πΏπͺ
6. Amid the challenges posed by systemic racism and social injustice, gardening can serve as a pathway to healing and personal growth, fostering mental well-being and a sense of renewal. π
Although I have a small space, I will grow what I can, and I am happy to share my journey with you all. πΊ
