From the Laptop of MalanB: Purpose vs reality
Hello, all my Divas and Gurus! It has been a while since I have written on the blog, and so many things have happened. In my personal life, I am working on myself and trying to get my summer/life clutter out of my home. Shout-out to my current read, Clutter Rehab-101: Tips and Tricks to Declutter Your Home and Organize Your Space by Laura Wittmann. I will be doing a book review very soon on the blog and podcast.
At this moment in my life, I realize that I used the word "purpose" as a noun and not as a verb. As we all know, verbs are words that show an action (sing), occurrence (develop), or state of being (exist). I haven't been active in my purpose in a long time. I was living through an inauthentic marriage, an atrocious and baleful rebound relationship, deafing grief, and crushing financial hardship. Now that I have had time to slowly rebuild, I am able to focus on my purpose. Not some guys' delusional dreams that he never worked on himself or unrealistic expectations that I put on myself or by this current sectarian society.
I never fully acted on my purpose. I never put real full motion behind myself. I have done cool things. I attended NYFW for multiple years, but I did not fully dive in. I have talked to some fabulous makeup artists, brands, designers, other bloggers/writers, authors, and entrepreneurs, but I did not fully invest in the brand of Heavy on Fashion like I have seen others.
After everything that I have been through in life, from a dissolved marriage, the loss of my dad, the birth of my son, and all the crazy that happened during and after these points in my life. I am finally working on my purpose as a verb and not as a noun. My purpose is to help myself, my son, and my community through my actions, presence, and creation. My blog, podcast, and other ventures will be an extension of my purpose in this world. I want to showcase resources of inspiration, help, community, and joy.
Speaking of podcasts, I will be relaunching the podcast on YouTube this fall. The goal is to start in September. I have two channels. The first channel is Heavy on Fashion; I will showcase interviews, product reviews, seasonal must-have lists from brands/self-purchases, and updates to the Heavy Fashion eBay store. This channel will have a mix of video, slideshows, and voice-over commentary.
The second channel, Heavy on Fashion Life Podcast, will be a glimpse of my life as a mom, blogger, and getting my life together. I may do some cleaning/organizing content. This content will not be a live feed but some live-taped content, voice-over work, and photos. My goal is to give a glimpse of my life and the process of the projects that I am building. Think of this as tapas of my life: my life in small bite-size treats. I will also have a monthly video/slideshows on the Heavy on Fashion Life YouTube channel. The focus will be on my monthly budget, my bargain buys, home organizing and cleaning, motherhood, and my personal goals. I will premiere those videos and behind-the-scenes looks on my Kofi channel at https://ko-fi.com/heavyonfashion.
